Protesters at Northeastern University demanded the school end its research partnership with the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency during rallies on Wednesday afternoon.

Students, faculty and community members marched around the school’s quad chanting, “ICE has got to go.”
According to the New York Daily News, Northeastern has received $2.7 million from ICE since 2016. The highest potential earning is “listed at over $7.7 million over an five-year period.”
Protesters had posters saying, “Drop the contract,” and “stop all work with ICE.”
“ICE has got to go.”

“In this present moment, it is pretty much immoral to be connected with an agency that is responsible for detaining and prosecuting immigrants, so I don’t want this school to be involved with that,” Ienna Fernandez said to the Boston Globe.
Many protesters called for the abolition of ICE, which has been a hot topic in recent weeks. A number of Democratic politicians have also called for it to be abolished, and the debate that has sparked looks to become a major issue for the midterm elections.
