Late night comic Stephen Colbert took a shot at President Donald Trump’s Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh Tuesday by making fun of his first name.
“I don’t know about you, but I’m still recovering from watching ‘America’s next top justice’ last night,” Colbert said on “The Late Show.” “I had a little drinking game — I would pour myself a drink every time my glass was empty. I won!” (RELATED: Stephen Colbert Claims Kanye West Has ‘Lost His Mind’ For Supporting Trump)
Colbert admitted to not knowing anything about Kavanaugh, but still took personal shots at him and his first name.
“I don’t know much about Kavanaugh. But I’m skeptical because his name is Brett,” he continued. “That sounds less like a Supreme Court justice and more like a waiter at Ruby Tuesday’s: ‘Hey everybody, I’m Brett, I’ll be your Supreme Court justice tonight. Before you sit down, let me just clear away these rights away for you.'”
Colbert also joked about Kavanaugh’s age and said he’s too young to make important decisions, including the possible repeal of Roe v. Wade.
“Plus, Kavanaugh’s 53-years-old, that’s one year younger than I am! I don’t want some kid making constitutional decisions,” he quipped. “I’m 54, and I still can’t decide whether I’m team Edward or team Jacob.”
“Kavanaugh grew up in Washington and went to school at Georgetown Prep. The same school attended by Trump’s last nominee, Neil Gorsuch,” Colbert concluded. “Which explains why Kavanaugh was voted ‘Second most likely to repeal Roe V wade.'”
