An impeachment document to remove Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein could be filed as soon as Monday, three conservative Capitol Hill sources have told Politico.

Politico reports that House Freedom Caucus Chairman Rep. Mark Meadows had the impeachment document on the House floor even while Rosenstein was speaking to reporters Friday about the indictments of Russian intelligence officers for alleged 2016 election interference.

Politico’s sources caution that the timing is “still fluid.”

“It has not been filed today,” Meadows spokesman Ben Williamson told Politico, but didn’t rule out that the document could be filed at some point next week as Meadows and Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan try to build Republican support.

Rosenstein, who is supervising the Mueller investigation because of the recusal of Attorney General Jeff Sessions, has long been the focus of intense criticism by Republicans frustrated by his handling of both the Russia investigation as well as his reluctance to turn over information related to FBI agent bias against President Trump. While Rosenstein did announce the indictment of 12 Russian nationals  Friday, he also made it clear that no hacking allegation altered the eventual election results.

“There is no allegation in this indictment that any American citizen committed a crime. There is no allegation that the conspiracy changed the vote count or affected any election result,” Rosenstein said Friday.
