Amazon workers across the globe are going on strike while Amazon struggles to get through “Prime Day,” its 36-hour summer sale.

Thousands of workers in Germany, Spain and Poland are going on strike Tuesday, demanding better working conditions, Reuters reported.

“The message is clear — while the online giant gets rich, it is saving money on the health of its workers,” said Verdi services union official Stefanie Nutzenberger.

Amazon’s warehouse working conditions have been widely covered by the press. The Seattle Times reported July 2 that employees are too afraid to go to the restroom while on duty. One reporter, James Bloodworth, went undercover working inside a warehouse to witness the conditions firsthand.

“I’ve worked in warehouses before, but this was nothing like I had experienced. You don’t have proper breaks — by the time you get to the canteen, you only have 15 or 20 minutes for lunch, in a 10-1/2-hour working day. You don’t have time to eat properly to get a drink,” Bloodworth told Business Insider in April.

Amazon is struggling to get through its fourth annual Prime Day summer sale. The website crashed as soon as the sale began at noon on Monday, outlets reported.

Given Amazon’s popularity, a summer sale only increased its already high traffic. (RELATED: Amazon Employees Say ICE Contract Is Like Assisting Hitler With The Holocaust)

“Sorry, we’re experiencing unusually heavy traffic. Please try again in a few seconds. Your items are still waiting in your cart,” users were told.

Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos’s fortune passed $150 billion Monday as the online-retail store’s shares rose past $1,825, The Daily Caller News Foundation reported.

Prime Day 2017 generated about $2.4 billion is sales, Coresight Research estimated; it estimated 2018’s 36-hour sale would earn generate about $3.4 billion.
