President Donald Trump is raising an absurd amount of money heading into the 2020 election cycle, giving him a serious boon against Democrats.

Trump’s campaign arm has raised in excess of $88 million over the past year and a half and, as of June, has roughly $53.6 million in the bank, The New York Times reported.

The president has broken practice from other administrations, beginning the fundraising and campaign efforts immediately after Trump defeated former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Many administration’s wait until after the first midterm elections of their first term before launching an official re-election campaign.

Three prominent Trump committees have raised over $17 million in the second quarter of 2018. In total, the committees spent in excess of $8.5 million during the second quarter.

Democrats are still trying to find their candidate to take on Trump in 2020, however, the 2018 midterms are their primary focus. (RELATED: Dem Candidates Bring In Big Donations)

Democratic members and candidates for the House are bringing in huge donations heading into the November midterm elections.

Democratic House nominees have raised over $1 million in a quarter in the first six months of 2018. Democratic candidates Gina Ortiz Jones, Lizzie Pannill Fletcher and Andy Kim have all brought in over a million in one quarter. (RELATED: GOP Chances Of Keeping The House In 2018)

House Democrats’ campaign fund — the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) — has raised over $162 million as of May 31.

The numbers may come as a shock to Republicans who are desperately trying to maintain control of the lower chamber in November. All campaigns were required to release their second quarter fundraising figures to the Federal Election Commission by July 15.
