Evan McMullin: It’s ‘Extremely Dangerous’ That Many Americans Support Trump On Russia
Anti-Trump “conservative” and failed presidential candidate Evan McMullin said that the views of many Americans are “extremely dangerous” on MSNBC Friday.
“I agree that it’s patently clear that the president is under the influence, control of Vladimir Putin. I think it’s been clear for a long time,” McMullin said.
“I think more people are being woken up to that. But the reality is, the numbers are not moving in the right direction. The reality is, again I’ll say, only 55% of Americans oppose the way Trump is handling his relationship with Russia.” (RELATED: MSNBC Commentator: ‘People Need To Start Taking To The Streets. This Is A Dictator.’)
“So there are a lot of people who actually aren’t following this very closely and they generally support what Trump is doing. That is extremely dangerous. That is something we have to think about, because ultimately this will come down to a political question, a political process in Congress to hold the president accountable. The politics really matter.”
McMullin also tweeted Friday:
How could so many Americans fail to oppose a clear risk to their own liberty? Well, candidate now president Trump has been in full, public embrace of Putin for three years and the vast majority of elected Republicans have, with few exceptions, been entirely silent on the matter.
