Portland is sweeping up after an Occupy ICE camp was shut down on Wednesday. Local police calling the protest site a biohazard.

As Fox News reports, the city’s mayor is offering to pay for some of the clean-up costs, but other Portland officials are wondering why the protesters can’t be forced to pay the bill after they created the “disgusting” mess.

“It was pretty disgusting that that’s how they were living back there,” local resident Frank Savage told FOX 12.

Savage looks forward to a return to normalcy. “Getting tired of waking up to the bullhorn and the sounds and the cussing,” he said.

The protesters left the area strewn with plenty of garbage — including recyclable material like plastic containers and liquor bottles that the activists didn’t bother to place in the appropriate bins. They even built a latrine.

The demonstrators erected the site by a Portland ICE office to show their opposition to the Trump administration’s tough-line on illegals.

The protesters want to terminate ICE. It is a policy position that has been gaining traction with some top-level Democrats, but they have backed away from a bill advocating the agency’s abolition.
