President Donald Trump poked fun at news media and his predecessors at a rally celebrating tariffs meant to bolster the U.S. steel industry.

“Look at all those cameras. All of those cameras. Every stop, I got all of these cameras. This never happened to Obama. This never happened to Bush. This didn’t happen,” Trump joked, adding of the news media, “They’re dying to see us make a little mistake. They analyze every word. They say did he say that? Could it have been? Did he say something positive about Russia? I think he loves Russia. And I see getting along with are Russia. That’s okay.”

Trump often swipes at the news media during his rallies and accuses them of not accurately portraying his crowd sizes or mischaracterizing the mood of his audience.

“Not one person in this room has sat down since I got up and started speaking. And I know that the press will say that he didn’t any standing ovations. That’s because they never had to sit. They were already standing,” he continued.
