Republican Rep. Jim Jordan stood by his efforts to impeach Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein during an interview Sunday with John Catsimatidis on “The Cats Roundtable.”

“If they don’t give us the documents, if they don’t give us information that we as a separate and equal branch of government are entitled to have in order to get answers for the American people, then we will actually call the vote for the impeachment of Rod Rosenstein,” he stated.

Jordan, who’s a member of the House Freedom Caucus, filed the articles of impeachment against Rosenstein with Rep. Mark Meadow and nine other Republicans on Wednesday. They have called for his impeachment for his unwillingness to cooperate with Congress in regards to his oversight of the special counsel’s investigation into the president’s campaign and whether or not they colluded with foreign entities. (RELATED: GOP Lawmakers Introduce Articles Of Impeachment Against Rod Rosenstein)

“The DOJ is keeping information from Congress. Enough is enough. It’s time to hold Mr. Rosenstein accountable for blocking Congress’s constitutional oversight role,” Jordan said in the joint statement released about the move to impeach.

Earlier this week Jordan also made clear his intentions to run to be the next House speaker with Paul Ryan retiring in November. (RELATED: Exclusive: Jim Jordan Explains His Bid For Speaker)

Some Republicans, including Speaker Ryan, have come out against their decision, as has Attorney General Jeff Sessions.
