It is unlikely President Donald Trump’s legal team will conduct an interview with special counsel Robert Mueller, according to Trump’s personal attorney and former Mayor Rudy Giuliani, who made an appearance on CNN Monday morning.
“I think the odds are against [the interview],” Giuliani said, “but I wouldn’t be shocked because he wants to do it so badly. And you know, on the negotiations about this, when they respond, they’ve been reasonable.”
Giuliani continued that in his conversations with special counsel Robert Mueller it was made known they would like to issue a final report on their investigation by September 2018.
Trump has said repeatedly that he would like to sit down with Mueller for his investigation, but his legal team has indicated that they want to limit the scope of the questions to whether he knew about Russian interference in the 2016 election.
Mueller is said to be focusing both on Russian interference in the 2016 election and alleged efforts by Trump to obstruct investigations into his campaign and former National Security Advisor Mike Flynn.
