Tucker Carlson: Democratic Party Is ‘Unrecognizable’

Fox News host Tucker Carlson used his Monday opening segment to argue that “Trump Derangement Syndrome” sufferers are willing to take any position, as long as it’s the opposite of President Trump’s.

Carlson, The Daily Caller co-founder, made the case that Democrats are now “unrecognizable.”

“Smallpox, the bubonic plague, the Spanish flu — those are some of the diseases that have changed the course of history over the last few thousand years,” Carlson said. “Here’s a new one … Trump Derangement Syndrome is a particularly insidious illness because it doesn’t affect individuals but entire entire political parties, rendering them unrecognizable. Until about 20 minutes ago, for example, the Democrats saw themselves as the party of reason, resistant to superstition and mass hysteria.”

“They were, as they often told you, the party that fought McCarthyism. Now, it’s the party that engages in McCarthyism, enthusiastically.” (RELATED: Tucker Carlson: America’s Elites Want ‘Immigration Without Limit’)

The Fox News host examined several issues, including MS-13, calls to abolish ICE, the respectability of hard core porn, free speech, censorship, and even taxing the rich as examples where the left has changed positions.

“Their only remaining principal is hatred of the president,” Carlson said. “If Trump supports something they are against it. If he’s against it, they are huge fans, no matter what it is.”

The derangement also extends to their respect for politicians they previously had no respect for.

“George W. Bush embroiled America in a ruinous Middle Eastern war,” said Tucker. “Now he gave a speech criticizing Trump last year, so he is fully rehabilitated.” (RELATED: Tucker Carlson Warns Of Approaching ‘Point Of No Return,’ Calls On ‘Adults On The Left’ To Stop It)

“To anyone who remembers the Democrats of the 1960s, the ’90s or even three years ago, it’s all very confusing. That party is dead,” Carlson concluded. “It’s been replaced by a new one whose entire platform could be, say no to Trump. This isn’t politics anymore; it’s the world’s dumbest religion.”
