President Obama’s communications director Dan Pfeiffer warned Democrats of President Trump’s chances of getting reelected in an interview with Vanity Fair  published on Monday.

“Democrats should be very, very worried,” Pfeiffer stated to Vanity Fair. “We have more voters than they do, but we can only win if we get them out. Complacency hurt Democrats last time because we assumed Trump would lose.”

“We’re going to have to figure out how to get the Obama coalition that did not turn out, plus win back midwestern states while improving performance in rural states,” he added.

President Trump has already announced his bid for the 2020 election, but it’s unclear who will be his Democratic opponent. A number of Democrats are reportedly considering a bid, including former Vice President Joe Biden and Senators Elizabeth Warren, Kamala Harris, and Bernie Sanders.

Earlier this month, Trump bashed Biden by saying that running against him would be a dream come true: “Look, Joe Biden ran three times. He never got more than 1 percent, and President Obama took him out of the garbage heap, and everybody was shocked that he did.” (RELATED: Trump: ‘I Dream’ About Running Against Joe Biden)
