First Lady Melania Trump released a statement of support for LeBron James, just a day after the president insulted James and CNN’s Don Lemon on Twitter.

“It looks like LeBron James is working to do good things on behalf of our next generation and just as she always has, the First Lady encourages everyone to have an open dialogue about issues facing children today,” the first lady’s spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham said in a statement, according to The Hill.

“What I’ve noticed over the last few months is that he’s kind of used sports to kind of divide us,” James said in a CNN interview with Lemon that premiered earlier this week. (RELATED: Trump Smacks LeBron, CNN’s Don Lemon As ‘Dumbest Man On Television)

One of the main topics of their interview was the “I Promise” elementary school that James founded and funded for at-risk children in the Akron, Ohio area, his home town.

James and Lemon have both feuded with the president for a long time. James has consistently defended the NFL players who chose to kneel, and his former team, the Cleveland Cavaliers, preemptively decided they would not honor the decades old tradition of traveling to the White House after winning a championship.
