The Las Vegas Aces forfeited their game last Friday against the Washington Mystics after the players refused to play citing exhaustion. They complained of fatigue stemming from the 26-hour journey it took them to get from Nevada to Washington, D.C.

The Aces spent 26 hours traveling after having their initial flight cancelled, and arrived to their hotel less than four hours before the game was supposed to begin, according to the Washington Post.

“While not ideal, it was the best available solution to accommodate both our fans and the scheduling challenges,” WNBA President Lisa Borders said in a statement. “Since the Aces chose not to play, the result is a forfeit.”

The WNBA even offered to push back the start time of the game an hour, but the Aces were adamant.

It does not appear that the Mystics and Aces will be able to make up this game, because both teams have games almost every other day from now until the season ends in about two weeks.
