Editor-in-chief of The Daily Caller News Foundation Chris Bedford said the Democratic Party has skewed so far to the left that it’s starting to embrace anti-American socialism.
“It’s also some of the words they use, because socialism does have a taint in world history and American history. People don’t really like it,” Bedford said on Fox News’s “America’s Newsroom” Wednesday. “It’s not a very American idea.” (RELATED: This Could Be A Major Reason Democrats Won’t Press Charges Against The Awans)
Bedford said Democrats started pushing radical ideas following the Obama years and accused them of relying on a socialist platform to carry them into the future.
“A lot of the ideas … that have been pushed by the Democratic Party, by President Barack Obama, that have been embraced including Obamacare, lean more toward a socialist bent,” he continued. “The Democratic Party of today is significantly farther to the left than just 10 years ago, 20 years ago — especially 30 years ago. President Bill Clinton could not win a primary today.”
Bedford referenced a clip of former presidential candidate Bernie Sanders appearing on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” Tuesday and said Sanders is correct about socialism taking over the Democratic Party.
“[Sanders has] a point that while the word socialism may not be a good campaign slogan, it’s certainly winning the Democratic Party,” he concluded.
