Lawrence O’Donnell opened his show Tuesday night reading a montage of tweets from Donald Trump directed to the MSNBC Host. In the series of tweets Trump called O’Donnell “unwatchable”, “has a face made for radio”, “the dumbest political commentator on television”, “too stupid”, “the dumbest man on tv”, “a very dumb guy”, and “a fool.”

Apparently O’Donnell didn’t find these tweets insulting, or even think it was unfair criticism. After reading the tweets aloud, O’Donnell responded, “He never called me a dog, why didn’t he go all the way with me? Why did he stop far short, of calling me an animal, a dog? What did I do to deserve his mercy? Well for one thing, I’m White.”

O’Donnell added, “So were we seeing the outburst of a lifelong racist today who believes substituting the word dog for the N word is his presidential way of cleaning up his racism for public consumption? Is that what this weeks news has provoked, a look into the racist mind of Donald Trump or is it a look into an increasingly crazed and dangerous mind?”

Earlier in the segment the MSNBC host said, “The president did everything he possibly could today to support the charge, that he is a racist, when he tweeted this.” Trump tweeted, “When you give a crazed, crying lowlife a break, and give her a job at the White House, I guess it just didn’t work out. Good work by General Kelly for quickly firing that dog!”

O’Donnell showed the tweet on the screen but refused to read the tweet calling it, “just too disgusting to read aloud, and would sicken him to read.”
