Actress Patricia Heaton on Wednesday slammed Pope Francis for being “tone deaf” in the wake of a Pennsylvania grand jury report alleging that over 1,000 children had been victims of sexual abuse by Roman Catholic clergy.
Seriously, how tone deaf can you get?! You sound like Don Corleone! How about protect the ‘children’? And what actionable steps are you taking to protect them? How about accepting @Cardinal_Wuerl ‘s resignation, for starters? https://t.co/HyGfYIyguh

“Seriously, how tone deaf can you get?!” Heaton tweeted. “You sound like Don Corleone! How about protect the ‘children’? And what actionable steps are you taking to protect them? How about accepting @Cardinal_Wuerl‘s resignation, for starters?”
Heaton was responding to a tweet from Pope Francis’ account stating that “our future” depends on protecting “the children.”
We must protect the #Family. Our future depends on it.

When asked for suggestions on what to do, Heaton suggested via tweet: “A grand jury investigation should be launched in every diocese in the U.S. for full transparency. Then every priest, bishop and cardinal involved in abusing, enabling or covering up should resign and be subject to applicable laws.”
