Trump Organization finance chief Allen Weisselberg was reportedly granted immunity by federal prosecutors in an investigation into President Donald Trump’s former personal lawyer, Michael Cohen.

The news comes after Weisselberg reportedly provided prosecutors with information regarding hush-money payments for two women during the 2016 presidential campaign, The Wall Street Journal reported Friday.

Weisselberg was subpoenaed by prosecutors in early 2018 to testify before a grand jury, after his name was mentioned in a meeting between Cohen and Trump regarding the hush money. Cohen pleaded guilty to multiple counts of tax fraud and bank violations as well as a campaign finance violation Tuesday, which Cohen said was related to Trump. Cohen previously said the payments were made in a personal capacity and had nothing to do with the 2016 presidential campaign, but backtracked in court Tuesday, saying he acted to influence the election when he made payments to the two women who claim to have had an affair with Trump.

It is unclear what Weisselberg told prosecutors in order to receive immunity.
