Former Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich said President Donald Trump is continuing to stack up political wins, despite a major effort by the news media to derail his agenda.

“Trump is winning and winning and winning. He’s winning on judges. He’s winning on NAFTA negotiation with Mexico,” Gingrich said on “Fox & Friends” Wednesday. (RELATED: Newt Gingrich Warns Of Foreign Spies Attempting To Infiltrate College Campuses)

“He just won in the primaries once again this week. And despite all of the effort of the liberal media, what you see is a steady consolidation of a set of ideas.”

Gingrich then quickly switched gears to the California gubernatorial race and slammed Democratic candidate Gavin Newsom for his open border policies.

“I want to raise this California thing because it may become one of the great moments in American history,” Gingrich said.

“The candidate for governor of California … This guy wants to do for all of California what he’s done for San Francisco and it combines with what Senator Feinstein did in the Senate. She introduced a bill that is essentially an open borders bill. Now he basically comes along and says, ‘I’d like to make sure if you get across the border you’ll get free health care.'”

Gingrich said if Newsom’s plan worked, people with deadly diseases and major illnesses would flock to California for treatment, at the expense of the American taxpayer.

“If the Gavin Newsom model works, do you realize all around the planet how many people who have a disease are going to say, ‘You know I just have to get to California for my free healthcare,'” Gingrich concluded. “This is close to madness.”
