Melania Trump’s office gave her Instagram followers an insider’s look at a White House Historical Association reception held Wednesday night at the White House.
The event was closed to the press.
“Congratulations to @whitehousehistory on a successful #PresidentialSites Summit. It was great hosting you at the @WhiteHouse,” the first lady captioned the video.
“Museums and historical sites are so vital in connecting our nation’s past with the present and preserving our rich heritage for future generations of Americans to treasure and build on,” Trump told the group.
The reception brought together leaders from more than 100 different presidential sites –libraries, museums, birthplaces and homes — throughout the country, according to CNN. It also gathered more than 40 presidential descendants of former presidents of the United States — all the way back to James Monroe.
“President Donald J. Trump and First Lady Melania Trump welcome guests to the White House Historical Association Presidential Sites Summit Reception Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2018, in the East Room of the White House,” the president captioned several posts on Instagram. “Guests invited included the descendants of 11 former Presidents of the United States and family members of Winston Churchill.”
A few other pictures from the evening have surfaced on social media.
