Self-described “liberal, feminist lawyer” Lisa Blatt, who voted for Hillary Clinton and is an advocate of Roe v. Wade, sat before the Senate Judiciary Tuesday and gave a more powerful and full-throated endorsement of Brett Kavanaugh than anyone else the entire day.

Lisa Blatt — an attorney and Supreme Court veteran who has argued cases before the court more than any other woman, winning 32 of 35 cases — fully endorsed the Trump nominee, even though she has filed cases against the Trump administration.

In her surprising remarks, Blatt introduced herself as “a liberal Democrat and an unapologetic defender of a woman’s right to choose” and called liberal Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg her “hero,” and said she voted for Hillary and Obama.

“I’m here today to introduce Judge Kavanaugh and urge the Senate to confirm him as a next associate justice of the Supreme Court,” Blatt said after the previewing of her liberal credentials, saying she received hate from her own party for supporting Trump’s pick. “Judge Kavanaugh is clearly qualified to serve on the Supreme Court.”

Blatt went on to cite Kavanaugh’s long list of credentials:

He has meticulously prepared and treats litigants with respect, asking probing questions at both sides. He approaches judging by determining what the law requires, no matter his personal preference. Judge Kavanaugh has taught at the nation’s top law schools, published articles, and has just mentioned the [American Bar Association] strongly endorsed him because ‘he makes the highest standards of integrity, professional competence and judicial temperament.

Blatt also said she has known Kavanaugh for over a decade and called him a mentor:

Judge Kavanaugh has spent countless hours listening to me talk about the challenges I have faced as a working mother and a profession dominated by men. Judge Kavanaugh has been remarkably committed to promoting women in the legal profession. More than half of his law clerk has been women, something that is sadly, by no means, common. Women and men who have gone on to work at the Supreme Court including — the legal profession is fairer and more equal because of judge Kavanaugh has mentored countless other women.

“Judge Kavanaugh is the best choice that liberals could reasonably hope for,” Blatt said in conclusion, “Our judicial system is not well served by tit-for-tat politics. At the end of the day, I enthusiastically support Judge Kavanaugh and am proud to introduce him because he is qualified by his extraordinary intellect and experience.”

Liberals are now attacking Ms. Blatt for her defense of Kavanaugh.
