Fox News senior judicial analyst Judge Andrew Napolitano said President Donald Trump should reconsider submitting written answers to ex-Trump attorney Bob Mueller to limit any possible legal backlash against him.

“In this case, it’s a team of government lawyers who want to prosecute, impeach or do something to interfere with Donald Trump’s presidency,” Napolitano said on “Fox & Friends” Thursday. (RELATED: Judge Napolitano Nails Trump For Sessions Tweet And Says He’s Providing ‘Fodder’ For Mueller Team)

He claimed Trump’s attorneys would provide the answers and said Mueller’s team would use that to grill the president and ultimately try to paint him into a corner.

“The lawyers will write the answers. The president will say ‘looks fine to me’ and sign it — until a month later when they start grilling him about ‘what did you mean about this and what did you mean about that,'” Napolitano said.

“This is just another level of opportunity for Bob Mueller’s team to put the president’s back to the wall.”

When people are being investigated by the federal government, the best course of action is to say nothing and decline the option to be interviewed, Napolitano said.

“When the government is nearing the end of a criminal investigation, they usually ask the person they’re investigating ‘is there anything you want to tell us?’ And the best answer is no. But there is a temptation,” he concluded.
