Illinois Democratic Rep. Luis Gutierrez said he was not sure if he is willing to be arrested in protest to block the confirmation of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

Gutierrez has been arrested numerous times during President Donald Trump’s presidency for protesting. “I don’t do things like that by my own. I do it in coordination with other people,” Gutierrez told The Daily Caller News Foundation Thursday in the Hart Senate building.

The Illinois Democrat was also asked if his constituents would want him to protest. “I don’t know. I haven’t got that text yet,” he said.

Gutierrez has called for Trump to resign and even wrote a letter to Trump Wednesday saying he was “convinced” that Trump “committed acts that under our Constitution are grounds for impeachment, but I also hope the nation can avoid the cynicism and division that impeachment would inflict on this country.” (RELATED: Rep Luis Gutierrez Arrested In Capitol Hill Protest)

Guttierrez announced in November 2017 he would not run for re-election, saying he might run against Trump in the 2020 presidential election.
