Liberal actor Jim Carrey said he could “break bread with anybody who voted for Trump” during a Friday night appearance on “Real Time With Bill Maher.”

The interview, which began with Carrey showing off his new pair of Nike shoes bought in solidarity with new spokesperson Colin Kaepernick, soon delved into the current political climate.

“There are generations growing up right now who are learning to lie, that lying is okay, that you’re supposed to hate half the country,” Carrey said around four minute mark of the interview. “If anything, if anything, we’ve got to get back to a place where we realize that a vote is not who you are, you know? And because you voted Republican, you’re not stupid, you’re not different, you’re not worthless, you know? I could break bread with anybody who voted for Trump. We could find some common ground to love each other.”

It didn’t take long, however, for Carrey to get back to criticizing President Trump.

“Just stop doing stupid shit!” he said. “That’s all we expect! Just get it together!”
