Secretary of State Mike Pompeo signed off an email to State Department employees on Monday with the phrase, “Keep on crushing it.”
Pompeo was wrapping up his trip to India and Pakistan last week, writing, “As was clear from our meeting with Embassy staff and families, our colleagues there are proud to be on the front lines of moving America’s relationship with India forward.”
“This kind of pride characterizes our team everywhere, resonates with the leaders and people of the world and is a key ingredient in delivering diplomatic wins for our fellow Americans,” he said.

In addition to “keep on crushing it,” he also said of his meetings in Pakistan with Chairman Dunford: “We weren’t shy about telling our counterparts that Pakistan needs to do more to fight terrorism.“

The email sign-off generated mixed reactions on Twitter.
Amateurs and novices. We have amateurs and novices in the government. It’s like having pre-pubescent teens running the world.

After sending this email, Secretary Pompeo flipped on his aviators, popped open a tallboy and enjoyed the ride home on the LIE https://t.co/eg3ZAXmjiy
