Virginia Democratic Sen. Mark Warner said he “must vote no” on Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination, joining a list of Democrats who have said they will not support President Donald Trump’s Supreme Court nominee.

While Warner has shared his concerns over Kavanaugh regarding issues like overturning Roe v. Wade, the Virginia Democrat said he would “still carefully examine Judge Kavanaugh’s record and judicial philosophy,” according to a statement on his website posted after Trump’s announcement of Kavanaugh’s nomination in July.

Warner said Monday night on CNN’s “State of the Union” with Jake Tapper that it’s not just issues like “women’s reproductive health, workers rights, and gay rights” that are of concern. He said Kavanaugh could have committed perjury while testifying before the Senate Judiciary committee. (RELATED: Pence Ready To Cast The Tie-Breaker For Kavanaugh)

“Listen if Judge Kavanaugh perjured himself, that’s clearly disqualifying. I’m going to go over the record,” Warner said. “I wanted to go through the hearings first, but I’m strongly inclined to vote against Judge Kavanaugh,” he continued.

The Daily Caller News Foundation reached out to Warner’s office but did not receive a response in time for publication.
