CNN anchor Kate Bolduan and senior political analyst Mark Preston had an awkward live moment on Monday as both expressed confusion over whether or not deputy attorney general Rod Rosenstein was going to resign.

WATCH:

Axios first reported Monday afternoon that Rosenstein was resigning from his post, but other outlets did not confirm their reporting and instead claimed that Rosenstein had only offered his resignation. Others said Rosenstein was heading to the White House to be fired by chief of staff John Kelly.

Amid the flurry of conflicting reports on the topic, Bolduan and Preston lamented the fact that they had no idea what was going on.

“Really strange where we are in this very moment,” Bolduan said. “Is he offering his resignation, is he resigning, is he getting fired? I’m confused why there’s so much confusion.”

“And I wish I could help with your confusion, but I too am confused with your confusion, as those who are watching right now are so confused,” Preston responded. “But listen, for the last two years we’ve all been confused by the Trump presidency.”
