President Donald Trump unloaded on a woman accusing Judge Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault during his freshman year of college, during an appearance at the UN general assembly.

“The second accuser has nothing. The second accuser doesn’t even know, she thinks maybe it could have been him, maybe not. She admits that she was drunk. She admits time lapses,” Trump said indignantly. “This is a person and this is a series of statements that’s going to take one of the most talented, one of the greatest intellects from a judicial standpoint in our country, going to keep him off the United States Supreme Court.”

Trump declared flatly, “This is a con game being played by the Democrats.” The president also staunchly defended Kavanaugh and his family, who he said are “devastated” by the stories surrounding his nomination.

Trump specifically referenced Deborah Ramirez who’s allegation against Kavanaugh surfaced Sunday evening detailing an alleged account from Kavanaugh’s freshman year at Yale University. She alleges that Kavanaugh exposed himself to her during a raucous party but admitted she was drunk during the encounter and at first had difficulty identifying him.

Ramirez is the second woman to come forward with decades-old sexual assault allegations against Kavanaugh. Dr. Christine Blasey Ford came forward in the Washington Post alleging that Kavanaugh assaulted her while he was age 17 and she was age 15, though she does not remember many key details. The people Ford alleges were at the party with Kavanaugh when he allegedly sexually assaulted her have also not confirmed her account.
