Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Grassley quoted former Vice President Joe Biden during a contentious hearing for Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh.
Democrats consistently complained in the hearing that there was not an FBI investigation into the sexual misconduct allegations against Kavanaugh.
Grassley reached a boiling point when Democrat Senator Durbin continued the calls for an FBI investigation, demanding that Kavanaugh stop the hearing and ask for the FBI to step in. Grassley quoted the former Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Joe Biden, who complained that an FBI investigation would do nothing during the Thomas hearings in 1991.
“The next person who refers to an FBI report as being worth anything obviously doesn’t understand anything. The FBI explicitly does not in this or any other case reach a conclusion. Period. They say he said, she said, and they said, period. So when people wave an FBI report before you, understand they do not, they do not, they do not reach conclusions. They do not make recommendations.”
