Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham warned Democrats on Thursday that they “better watch out” the next time they get a Supreme Court nominee.
Graham told reporters outside of the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing with Dr. Christine Blasey Ford that he takes issue with the way Democrats have handled Ford’s allegations. Dr. Ford first claimed that Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh raped her in a confidential letter to Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein in July.
“If this becomes the new standard, where you have an accusation for weeks, you drop it right before the hearing, you withhold from the committee a chance to do this in a professional, timely fashion, when they publicly say that their goal is to delay the vote … I don’t wanna reward that kind of behavior,” Graham asserted.
Graham then issued a stark warning to Democrats.
“Let me tell you, my Democratic friends,” Graham said. “If this is the new norm, you better watch out for your nominees.”
