Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham encouraged a rape victim to report her story to the police on Thursday.

Congressional reporters who saw Graham outside of Thursday’s Senate hearing with Dr. Christine Blasey Ford and Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh said a woman chased Graham down and told him she was raped.

Graham reportedly responded by telling the woman to go to the police. (RELATED: Graham Issues Stark Warning To Democrats: ‘You Better Watch Out)

“Senator Graham, I was raped 13 years ago,” the woman said, according to a transcript by CNN.

“I’m so sorry,” Graham responded. (RELATED: Graham To GOP Colleagues If They Cave On Kavanaugh: ‘God Help Us’)

“I don’t remember the exact date, but do you believe me?” the woman replied.

“You needed to go to the cops,” Graham asserted. “Go to the cops.”
