Kellyanne Conway defended Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh on Sunday during an impassioned interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper.
“What you saw the other day was a Senate Judiciary confirmation hearing,” she stressed. “It was not a criminal or civil proceeding. And let me just say also it is not a meeting of the #metoo movement.”

Conway, who surprised Tapper with the admission that she too has been the victim of sexual assault, suggested that the attacks on Kavanaugh were misplaced.
I feel very empathetic for victims of sexual assault, sexual harassment and rape — I’m a victim of sexual assault. I don’t expect Judge Kavanaugh or Jake Tapper or Jeff Flake or anybody to be held responsible for that. You have to be responsible for your own conduct. This is not Bill Cosby. Those comparisons on your network are disgrace and the anchor should have called them out. This is not even Bill Clinton. You have Senate Judiciary Committee members who refused to remove Bill Clinton from office after he had oral sex in the Oval Office and lied about it to a grand jury as the President of the United States. The hypocrisy is ridiculous. If not one Senate member changes their vote because of what they learn from the FBI investigation, that tells you all you need to know about what the president and Judge Kavanaugh have said is a sham. Let’s just be honest about it, this is all partisan politics.
Conway also mentioned Arizona Republican Sen. Jeff Flake, who was ambushed in an elevator by women who claimed that their assaults were being ignored by anyone who would vote to confirm Kavanaugh.
“I want those women who were sexually assaulted and confronting Jeff Flake, god bless them, but go blame the perpetrator. That’s who is responsible for the sexual assaults, the people who commit them,” she said.
