October 10, is Brett Favre’s birthday.
The football legend turns 49 years old Wednesday and has packed in a huge career both on the football field and off it.
Born in Gulfport, Mississippi, Favre attended the University of Southern Mississippi and was promptly drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in the second round of the 1991 NFL draft. But he really became a star after he was traded to the Green Bay Packers the following year.
Favre started for the Packers for 16 years; he won Super Bowl XXXI with the team and was named the league’s Most Valuable Player not once, not twice, but three times. He also has 11 Pro Bowl invitations, third most in the NFL.
Since his retirement, Favre has been outspoken about CTE prevention and created a documentary one the condition called, “Shocked: A Hidden Factor in the Sports Concussion Crisis.”
