Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley praised Maine Republican Sen. Susan Collins and condemned the attacks that she’s faced since voting in favor of Brett Kavanaugh during an interview with Fox News’ Martha MacCallum on Tuesday night.

WATCH:

“Susan Collins, who gave a seminal speech when she established that she was going to vote yes, is being roundly criticized,” MacCallum began. “She was called a fake feminist and now there is $3 million in a fundraising effort against her in Maine. What do you think about that?”

“I’m going to help raise $3 million to match that, because that criticism is absolutely abominable that they would say that about her for everything that she has stood for in her lifetime, related to feminist issues,” Grassley responded. “She’s been in the forefront of everything. It just goes to show you how narrow the thinking of the opposition to Kavanaugh was, that they would say those extremist, anti-Collins positions about a person that’s been with them most of the time.”

The question was about a Crowdpac that has raised over $3 million to donate to her 2020 Democratic challenger as of Saturday. The description of the page was, “Either Sen. Collins VOTES NO on Kavanaugh OR we fund her future opponent.” (RELATED: Crowdfunding Site For Susan Collins Challenger Got So Much Traffic It Crashed)

Planned Parenthood tweeted a condemnation of Collins saying, “This isn’t just another vote. @SenatorCollins has made it clear that she can no longer call herself a women’s rights champion. She has sided with those who disbelieved, disrespected, and even mocked survivors.” (RELATED: Planned Parenthood And Sen. Susan Collins Tussle Over Kavanaugh Vote)
