Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton rejected calls for civility in politics during an interview with CNN that aired Tuesday.

Clinton told CNN’s Christine Amanpour that one cannot be civil with a political party that “wants to destroy what you stand for, what you care about.”
“That’s why I believe, if we are fortunate enough to win back the House and/or the Senate, that’s when civility can start again,” Clinton asserted. “But until then, the only thing that the Republicans seem to recognize and respect is strength.”
Republicans, including House Majority Whip Steve Scalise, denounced the confirmation process of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh because of the aggressive protests from the left. Protesters repeatedly harassed Republican members of Congress in public places and in the halls of the Capitol throughout the past couple of weeks. Democratic Sen. Cory Booker ramped up the rhetoric, asserting that people who support Kavanaugh’s confirmation are “complicit in evil.”
Clinton blamed Republicans for the fractured political lines during Kavanaugh’s confirmation.
“You heard how the Republican members, led by [Senate Majority Leader] Mitch McConnell, the president, demeaned the [Supreme Court] confirmation process,” Clinton claimed.
