Nikki Haley Resigns As UN Ambassador

U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley has resigned her position to President Donald Trump, a White House official tells The Daily Caller.

The news was first reported by Axios’s Jonathan Swan. Haley’s policy positions were long seen as at odds with Trump’s positions, though she emerged as a forceful voice for the U.S. at the UN Security Council. The UN Ambassador frequently delivered broadsides against Russia, North Korea, and Iran at the international body and was a vocal advocate of the Trump administration’s agenda.

She previously served as the Republican governor of South Carolina. Trump is expected to make an official announcement in the Oval Office at 10:30am.

Haley did however  highlight the differences between her and the president in a Washington Post op-ed saying “I proudly serve in this administration, and I enthusiastically support most of its decisions and the direction it is taking the country. But I don’t agree with the president on everything. When there is disagreement, there is a right way and a wrong way to address it. I pick up the phone and call him or meet with him in person.”
