Rumors are swirling that Johnny Manziel could be a great fit for the New York Giants.

Eli Manning is swirling down a drain and it’s time to think about the future. Despite the fact Manziel hasn’t played an NFL game in nearly three years, at least one major publication floated the idea of the signing the Texas A&M Heisman winner.

The Giants Wire wrote the following:

Plus, the common mantra is that the Giants need a mobile quarterback and outside of Kaepernick, only one is to be had: Johnny Manziel.

Currently playing in the CFL, a “reformed” Manziel remains determined to make an NFL comeback and based on how the chess board is set up right now, the Giants would be his best option. And it’s not as if we haven’t heard Manziel to the Giants rumors in the past.

Oh, I bet the Manziel haters and critics hate to see this. They reveled in how he fell from grace and was out of the league after two seasons. Yet, he still draws interest. (RELATED: Here’s How Many NFL Teams Are Apparently Still Interested In Johnny Manziel)

Look, here’s the reality of the situation. Manziel will continue to gin up NFL interest as long as he continues to play football. It’s really that plain and simple. There’s no big conspiracy, it’s not rocket science and it doesn’t take a genius to figure out. The man simply moves the needle.

Okay, so, we’ve gotten that out of the way. Now, let’s be crystal clear right here. Manziel might have some kind of friendship with Odell Beckham Jr. and Saquon Barkley, but the Giants aren’t signing him anytime soon.

The main reasons why: he still has a year left on his deal with the Alouettes, and still has to prove he can play at an elite level. Sure, he could tank his way out of Montreal, but that doesn’t guarantee he’ll get picked up by New York. All it guarantees is that he’ll lose a solid chunk of money left on his Canadian Football League (CFL) deal.

Johnny Football will likely get another shot at the NFL. It’s more probable than not, but it’s not happening with the New York Giants in the next several months.
