Ben Affleck’s new movie “Torrance” will focus a lot on addiction.

TMZ reported the following Tuesday:

Ben Affleck‘s immersing himself in a new role that ya might say came along at the perfect time — because he’s playing an athlete-turned-addict who’s trying to make a comeback.

Cameras were rolling in L.A. Monday as Ben filmed a scene for his new film, “Torrance,” in which he stars as a former All-Star basketball player who’s battling addiction while taking a high school coaching gig at his alma mater.

For those of you who are unaware, “The Town” actor has struggled with addiction, and been in the news a lot for it recently. It might be a complete coincidence his new role centers around such a topic or it might not be. TMZ didn’t make it clear one way or the other. However, maybe the role of a coach struggling with addiction will be cathartic for Affleck and help him get through whatever he’s battling.

You always have to look at the bright side, and I have no doubt there’s one to be found here.
