NFL free agent Chris McCain got off pretty easy after pleading no contest to two misdemeanor counts of battery.
McCain, who played for the Chargers and Colts, entered the plea in a Los Angeles court room after he was accused of choking and spitting on a woman. According to TMZ, he will be entered into a diversion program, attend anger management and participate in community service. He apparently won’t be doing any time behind bars as long as he stays out of trouble going forward.

Well, once again, the NFL just can’t seem to shake the the image of its players being violent towards women. How much more of this is going to go on before the league figures out a way to not have players constantly in the news for violence toward women. Here’s some free advice that I’m going to give pro athletes and people everywhere in general. Don’t assault people. Don’t spit on them. Don’t hit them. Don’t do things that require you to get put in handcuffs and dragged into court. As a general rule of life, you don’t want to be charged with crimes.
Apparently, that memo just hasn’t reached the league yet. I don’t know what the solution is, but I know something has to be done before this PR nightmare continues.
