Rutgers linebacker Izaia Bullock is in some serious legal trouble.

Bullock, who has since been booted from the team, has been charged with multiple counts of attempted murder, but the details are sparse.

NJ.com reported the following:

Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew Carey and Rutgers Police Chief Kenneth Cop announced his arrest and the charges in a statement Tuesday evening.

They said the charges came after determining that on Monday, “Bullock initiated a plot to murder the family members of an acquaintance.”

The targets, who are not affiliated with Rutgers, were not injured, a prosecutor’s spokeswoman said.

First off, it doesn’t really matter if Bullock is guilty or innocent when it comes to his football future. Getting charged with multiple attempted murders is going to end pretty much anybody’s career.

Second, I sure hope he has a great lawyer waiting in the wings because he’s going to need it. On top of the attempted murder charges, he’s also got two charges of conspiracy to commit murder. Those four counts added up probably equal some serious prison time if he’s convicted. (RELATED: The Latest AP College Football Poll Is Here. Find Out Where Your Team Ranks)

It’s unfortunate we don’t have more details because the whole situation sounds absolutely wild. How does a young college football player get himself involved in a situation where he’s facing these charges? It just doesn’t make sense at all.

Check back for more details on the situation when we’ve got them. You can count on this one getting a lot crazier.
