Wall Street Journal Editor Says House Democrats Will End All Private Insurance And Force Entire Market Into Government Hands

Wall Street Journal assistant editorial page editor James Freeman said Democrats are beginning to embrace radical health care policies that would eliminate private insurance and turn over all operations to the government.

“The danger is if the Bernie Sanders left actually means it. And you look at the details here, I think they’ve gone very far to the left on health care,” Freeman said on “Fox & Friends” Monday. (RELATED: Barack Obama Calls Medicare For All A ‘Good New Idea’)

“The Bernie plan, which has been endorsed by most House Democrats, is to end Medicare, end all private insurance — all of us going into a new government plan,” he added.

Freeman said the GOP should use this issue on the campaign trail to show how partisan the Democrats’ stance on health care has become.

“This has really not been talked about much on this campaign. I think it should be. The stakes are enormous,” he said.

“It’s not just the 33 trillion over 10 years. New tax burden, basically crowding out all government spending to make room for it — it’s also quality of care. When you look around the world at countries that have embraced socialized medicine, the results are not pretty,” Freeman concluded, adding:

“Long lines, waiting to get operations, this kind of thing. This hasn’t really been discussed though. And I don’t know if it’s because people can’t believe he really means it? But, if you have a large Sanders contingent, a Democratic majority in the House, watch out.”
