ELECTION NIGHT TV RATINGS: This Was The Most Watched Broadcast Network

The eyes of America were upon the 2018 midterm elections on Tuesday night, and one network won out in ratings by a landslide.

According to Deadline Hollywood, NBC led broadcast networks in TV ratings for Tuesday’s election coverage. (RELATED: Several Primetime Shows Hit Season Lows Last Night. The Numbers Are Horrific)

On primetime channels, NBC led the competition with a massive 4.2 Nielsen rating (which means 4.2 percent of the participating U.S. population tuned in). ABC came in second with an almost equally as impressive 4.0 Nielsen rating. CBS trailed behind with a 3.0 rating.

It’s worth noting that primetime channels almost always lose out to cable channels that boast a 24/7 news cycle during election coverage. Those numbers are not yet available.

The Fox News Channel routinely beats out CNN and MSNBC in its regular primetime shows. Just last week, Fox celebrated its 28th month as the most-watched cable news network in total day ratings.
