Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina had some words of advice for Rep.-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who likened the ongoing situation at the U.S. southern border to the plight of Jews during the Holocaust.
“I recommend she take a tour of the Holocaust Museum in DC,” Graham tweeted Monday. “Might help her better understand the differences between the Holocaust and the caravan in Tijuana.”

Graham was responding to a Sunday tweet from Ocasio-Cortez in which she compared migrants at the Southern border to Jews fleeing Germany during the Holocaust and families fleeing the devastating circumstances in Syria and Rwanda.
Asking to be considered a refugee & applying for status isn’t a crime.
It wasn’t for Jewish families fleeing Germany.
It wasn’t for targeted families fleeing Rwanda.
It wasn’t for communities fleeing war-torn Syria.
And it isn’t for those fleeing violence in Central America. https://t.co/qhv7Rr1itn

The thousands of migrants who have arrived or are heading toward the U.S. border from Central America have dominated the headlines for weeks as lawmakers debate how to best handle the influx. (RELATED: Border Patrol Agent Reveals What Prompted The Use Of Tear Gas at US-Mexican Border)
Ocasio-Cortez, a self-proclaimed Democratic-Socialist from New York, questioned President Donald Trump’s decision to send thousands of active duty troops to help support border patrol agents with the flood of migrants, saying instead the country should send thousands of caseworkers.
“In addition to averting moral crisis, it also would‘ve saved enormous amt [sic] of resources. But we don’t talk about the financial recklessness of GOP admins, do we?” the representative-elect quipped.
What if instead of sending 5k troops to the border, we had sent 5k caseworkers to review + process visa applications?

Graham announced his support for Trump’s decision to temporarily close the border at one of its busiest ports of entry Sunday after dozens of migrants rushed toward the fence and attempted to storm through.
“I support President Trump’s decision to close the border until we can get a handle on the chaos created by the broken laws governing asylum,” Graham tweeted, adding, “You have to really hate President [Trump] to not understand the problems created by the caravans.”
