Blake Shelton gushed about girlfriend Gwen Stefani and opened up about how the two got together to create their latest song, “You Make It Feel Like Christmas.”
“I sent Gwen [Stefani] a couple of lines of the song. She took it and made the song what it is. I just sent her an idea,” the 42-year-old country singer shared Monday on the red carpet with Entertainment Tonight. “She tries to say that I co-wrote it, but I just sang on it,” he added.
When pressed further by the reporter if the lyrics of the song were inspired by the couple’s blossoming relationship, Shelton admitted there was some truth to that.
One of the lines read, “I never thought I’d find a love like this/But I found forever in that very first kiss.”
“I would like to think so, come on,” the “God Gave Me You” singer shared with a smile. “This is romance around here, of course!”
Then after Shelton’s “Voice” co-star Jennifer Hudson volunteered how “gorgeous” Stefani looked in the music video, the “Boys ‘Round Here” hitmaker couldn’t help but share how “gorgeous” she looked all the time.
“How gorgeous does she look all the time? It’s unbelievable,” Shelton explained. “Right now, wherever she is, she looks gorgeous, whatever she’s doing.”
In the video, fans get to see the duo in a winter-themed setting sharing romantic moments with a bit of humor thrown in to make it fun. Clearly, it’s destined to be another hit for the pair who started dating each other when they met during their time as coaches on “The Voice” in 2015. Both had gone through divorces prior.
