Melania Trump spoke at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia, Wednesday afternoon and criticized the media’s focus on trivial and “unimportant stuff” in their coverage of her.
The topic of Melania’s speech was the greater opioid crisis.
CRTV host Eric Bolling, who lost his son to opioids last year, moderated a Q & A with Melania after her speech. Bolling asked Melania about the recent media uproar over her White House Christmas decorations and their general treatment of her as a first lady.
“How has the media treated you with respect to this?” Bolling asked, concerning the first lady’s activism.
“I would like for them to focus more on what we are doing and what we want to achieve and spread awareness,” Melania said.
Bolling followed up, wondering if Melania thinks she is getting the “credit” she deserves: “You don’t get the credit that other first ladies get.”
Melania said the media coverage of her likes to focus on “unimportant stuff.”
“They would like to portray different stories and focus on unimportant stuff. I’m here to shine the light and focus on important stuff. And talk about the ways I can help.” (RELATED: Media Attacks Melania’s Christmas Decorations, Call It Horror Show Nightmare)

When Bolling asked a follow-up about the recent media uproar over Melania’s Christmas decorations, Trump said she thought her decorations were “fantastic.”
“We are in the 21st century, and everybody has a different taste,” Melania said. “I think they look fantastic.”
Melania then invited the large student audience to visit the White House. “I hope you will call come over to visit. In real life, they look even more beautiful. You are all welcome to visit the White House — the People’s House,” the first lady said to cheers.
