Urban Meyer’s decision to leave Ohio State didn’t do much to help his reputation that he’s not an overly honest guy.

Meyer was asked point-blank at an October 29 press conference whether or not he’d be returning as Ohio State’s coach. He answered “yes.” (RELATED: Urban Meyer Stepping Down At Ohio State. Here’s What The Fans Need To Know)

That press conference was held only 36 days ago, and now Meyer is gone after the Rose Bowl. So, the question has to be asked about what changed in a little more than a month for him to pull a 180. In that time span, the Buckeyes crushed Michigan and won the Big Ten championship.

Not sure how those two accomplishments would make Meyer want to leave.

So, either Meyer wasn’t being fully honest during his October press conference, or we’re not being told the whole truth.

I don’t see any other options here. It also doesn’t do anything to help the fact he’s perceived by some to be dishonest. The entire Zach Smith saga was pretty much a referendum on whether or not Urban Meyer could be trusted, and his three-game suspension was a sign that he likely couldn’t be.

Now, his decision to leave OSU after claiming he wouldn’t is just the latest sign Meyer just can’t seem to be fully transparent.
