Free agent pitcher Adam Ottavino may have a career record of 17-20, but that doesn’t mean he couldn’t easily handle the man widely regarded as the best player in baseball history — at least according to Ottavino.
The 33-year-old reliever told MLB.com’s Statcast podcast that Babe Ruth would not be able to play in today’s game. (RELATED: NASA Responds To Steph Curry’s Moon Conspiracy Theory)
Adam Ottavino: “I’m not trying to disrespect him, you know, rest in peace, you know, shoutout to Babe Ruth. But, it was a different game, I mean the guy ate hot dogs and drank beer and did whatever he did.” #MLB #Yankees #HotDogs #Beer https://t.co/8NUVn2xmhx

On one hand, you have to admire Ottavino’s confidence. On the other, you have to just simply shake your head at how wrong he is. It doesn’t matter how intoxicated Ruth was on game day, he still delivered.
Ruth had a career batting average of .342 and 714 home runs. “The Bambino” was not just the greatest baseball player of all-time, but one of the most iconic Americans to ever live.
Ottavino owes him more respect.
