Ohio State running back Mike Weber is going pro.

Weber, who has 858 yards and five touchdowns on the season, announced the decision late Sunday night on Twitter. He also made it clear he’d be playing the Rose Bowl to “finish what my brothers and I started.”

This seems like a smart decision for Weber. He’s viewed as one of the best players at the draft in his position, he stands to make a decent amount of money if he’s selected where he’s currently slated and OSU is about to lose Urban Meyer. (RELATED: The College Football Playoff Teams Have Been Announced. You might as well go out on top and get your money while you can.

Football players aren’t known for having the longest careers in professional sports, and you have to do whatever it takes to get money while you can. It only takes one bad hit or injury to ruin your career forever.

Get your money and don’t hesitate for a second.

It’d be different if Weber was projected as a day three pick or was likely to go undrafted. Right now, it looks like the worst case scenario for him is the end of the third round. That’s a six-figure signing bonus and then more in actual yearly pay.

That’s not bad at all. There’s no telling what is on the horizon for the Buckeyes. You might as well leave while you can and get paid for it.
