Michigan Wolverines defensive lineman Rashan Gary is starting his own agency prior to the NFL draft.

According to Darren Heitner, the agency will be called Rashan Gary Sports, and NFL agent Ian Clarke will join the company.

Look, I’m not against anybody getting their money, but this seems like an absurdly stupid decision on Gary’s part. (RELATED: Here Are The Best Moments From Week 15 Of The NFL Season)

Perhaps he should focus on actually solidifying his position in the NFL after leaving Michigan before he tries to open up his own agency. Plenty of college stars flame out of the league before they even know what hit them.

He’s going to try to become a star in football and in the agency game at the same time. It seems like the definition of being over-extended.

It has begun.. I’d like to say THANKS to everyone across the country and my home state of #NewJersey that has been a part of this amazing journey. Thanks to all the coaches, teachers, athletes for making me feel welcome were ever I may have been. I still carry those experiences with me to this day. #GoBlue to those in the state of #Michigan and the city of #AnnArbor. University of Michigan was a decision that I worked hard to have the opportunity to make and I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. As I enter the next chapter in my life and athletic career, I had another important decision to make. I did so understanding my responsibilities, commitment and direction on who and where I want to be when this game no longer see’s me as I see it. Last but not least. I like to say thanks to my Rashan Gary Sports (RGS) team. I am fully focused on this athletic transition, building the best version of myself. They allow me to focus on my goal everytime I step on the field. That’s to be #1 and the best at what I am asked to do. Thanks to Ian Clarke, esq., who will be lead #RGS’ sports agent. DSA Media Group who will lead as marketing agency and Christian Dennie our General Counsel. Thanks again to everyone who’s supported and influenced my journey, Lets Go! #RGS #RahGary #RashanAGarySports

Again, I wouldn’t ever cheer against anybody trying to get ahead. That’s what America is all about, but maybe he should take it one step at a time.

Finally, I’m not sure this is a move NFL general managers are going to love. They hate dealing with agents as it is. Are they really going to like having a player on the roster who runs his own agency? I doubt it.

Best of luck to Gary, but I don’t see this ending well at all.
