The Detroit Lions placed star rookie running back Kerryon Johnson on injured reserve Wednesday morning.

The move brings an end to his impressive first season in the NFL and now leaves the Lions with even fewer options in the backfield. Johnson has been struggling with a knee injury for several weeks now.

Once again, the Lions just keep getting pounded into the dirt. First, it was Matthew Stafford’s back problems, and now, the best rookie on the team is on the injured reserve list How much worse could it honestly get?

The team is simply falling apart.

Secondly, how stupid am I? I honestly believed the Lions were going to be awesome this season. I thought were going to ball out on the NFL.

How did that work out? Well, we’re currently 5–9. That’s what we like to call an absolute embarrassment of a season in the NFL. (RELATED: Here Are The Best Moments From Week 15 Of The NFL Season)

I’ll never understand why bad things happen to good people. It just doesn’t make sense at all.

Hopefully, Johnson and Stafford are both able to heal up and return to prime form next season. The former Auburn running back is arguably the best guy in the backfield the Lions have had in a long time.

He’s actually able to take some pressure off Stafford, which hasn’t happened much at all since the quarterback was taken with the first overall pick in the draft. It’s just mind-boggling this season fell apart so fast and so hard.

Life sure is hard, but it’s a hell of a lot harder when you’re a Detroit fan.
